Round 11 farscape_20in20 icons: Till the Blood Runs Clear

So, here comes my entry for the 11th

farscape_20in20 round, in which we had to choose something from the 1st season as our claim. I think some bad luck curse was on me for the whole round, because first everyone claimed all my favorite episodes while I was sleeping, so I was left with the best of the rest, Till the Blood Runs Clear - I honestly wasn't too inspired by this episode at first, I only picked it because it had some visually nice scenes (so much light!).

The bad luck continued when I realized that another iconer had already used the very scene I had planned on using on my category set, so once again I had to settle for a less optimal choice. I know it's technically ok to have the same claim/scene as someone else, but I just didn't want to - I felt that would have created too much of a competition between the sets if they were from the same episode, for example :)

But hey, I guess the point of these icon communities is to challenge oneself and not to be able to use all my 'first choices' deifinitely made it more challenging, and I ended up enjoying it. Despite all this bad luck, this round actually went much smoother than the last one for me. This set is a bit different from what I usually make, I ended up using so much light and bright and pastelly colors, I guess the general lightness of the episode appealed to some hidden camp gay part of my personalitiy, lol :D I hope you enjoy!

oh your icons are amazing!! I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE THE AC's. Especially #2. the coloring is just gorgeous and I maybe love Aeryn a TON...

I also love the Rygel green one I'm loling at it. Passion is superb at first the texture seems overpowering and then i look at it longer and it's just perfect It's like I'm part of the photogasm(which scares me a bit) but I'm loving the BRIGHT.

Also love Butch and Sundance there in the Cat set. :) #5 is too cute!

Fantastic icons as always!

Very pretty as always. I like the soft feel to these, it fits well with the episode. And I really like the style you did on Same Scene icons. Green, quiet, and slash are other ones I really like.

Aah, these are fabulous again. :) Especially love the category and the AC sets. The soft colouring is really pretty. And nice blend!

You might have had a difficult time in fulfilling this challenge, at least judging from your post, but it would seem that a little suffering is not just good for the soul ;-) it's also good for one's accomplishments.

One of the elements in this episode is *light*, what with the solar flares and the desert planet where there are few shadows: well, you worked this theme to quite fascinating results, particularly in "Full Body" and "Passion". The whole "Same Scene" sequence is also beautifully drenched in light and it gives the pictures a very special quality.

Oh, and I *LOVE* what you did with "Artist's Choice" - those expression are beyond intense!

So I am in love with Green. It is just sublime. The colouring, the text, the pic. Love it.

I also love Large text. Anything with John & D'Argo and I am there but I also love the colouring and the font you used? It's such a pivotal moment for them.

The colouring in your cat set is great. So bright and vibrant, like John & Aeyrn so I totally get that. I especially love #3 & 5.

Once again sir, you have done a fantabolous job!

Thank you so much!! Green was the second last one I made, I think the same day that I posted these, because I hated my first try at green. I'm always left wondering though if I should have gone with the first ones instead, so your comment gave me more confidence in that I had made the right decision. Thanks! ^^

Oh, and the font in Large Text is the Wolfs Rain font - I found it for free here :)

Disclaimer: I hate pastels. Like really hate them LOL But I'm really impressed with what you've done with them, and it's a testament to your iconning prowess that I don't hate the icons themselves ;)

Large Text and Green are perfect (the purple is dark enough not to count as a pastel ;) I like the apple green of Green too. I love how crisp and clean and clear you were able to get Large Text, I know the lighting in that scene is difficult. Green is just too cute and perfect, I really should snurch that one ;)

I really like your choice of one character for Blend, and I love the font and quote on Color Splash! Really lovely. Full Body and Quiet are startling in their simplicity, so elegant. I really like the light on Passion, and the textures (and crops) on Minor Character and Name. I think there is a whole series of fics based around that Slash moment ;)

I know the Category scene wasn't your first choice but you did an excellent job with it, pastels aside :p I really love the crops on 1 and 4, and the whole thing has such a vibrant, happy feel to it. It must be Aeryn's infectious smile.

Your ACs are lovely (I would call that more sepia than pastel ;) warm and rich...they have a luxurious feel to them, particularly 1 and 5.

I had never thought of it but now that you mention it, I realize I haven't seen many pastels in your icons... Thanks for not hating the icons themselves anyway! :D I'm really flattered. I really wanted to try something different this time, and since I'm usually all about textures, I decided to concentrate on the coloring now, and to pick a really distinctive and a bit risky color scheme. The ACs are a bit different though like you said, cause they were the last ones I made and I was like 'hmm, this set needs something that's at least a little bit dramatic'. :P

Lol, about slash - it was another instance of my BAD LUCK that the one time I would have had a good excuse for a slashy icon, THE EPISODE HAS NO SCORPY D: D: D: so I had to settle for this quite boring ship. I really hope my luck will change for the next round!

I really like your AC set.. the coloring makes it look like an old movie.

Thank you!! There wasn't much to choose from when I needed to interpret 'Passion' - no kissing or anything. So I just went with the photogasmic passion :p
